Katie Ashley has worked on and around Capitol Hill since 2007. She began her career in Lamar Alexander’s senate office, and then on Bill Haslam’s gubernatorial staff.
During her tenure in Governor Haslam’s office, Katie was instrumental in the Drive to 55 higher-education initiative, helping shepherd key legislation including Tennessee Promise and the FOCUS Act. As Director of Legislation, Katie advised the governor, his senior staff, and 23 state agencies on political strategy and legislative affairs.
Katie moved into the private sector in 2018, joining Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, LLP as a Senior Advisor of Government Affairs and Economic Development. She came to JPK in 2020, with deep experience in economic development issues and a record of creating effective internal communications structures and strategies for clients who interface with state government.
Katie grew up in Crockett County in West Tennessee and graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 2008. She’s mom to daughters Ryall and Mackie, an avid reader and loves the outdoors: hiking with dog Charlie, playing league volleyball, and hanging out on the Tennessee River with family and friends.
